Abstract :
The 1987 National Electrical Code (NEC) permits the use of additional ampacity tables covering various installation situations. These tables cover low-voltage installations rated 0 to 2000 V and medium-voltage installations for cables rated 2001 to 35000 V. Ampacity tables are included for cables in air and in raceway in air, cables for use in direct burial, and cables installed in underground electrical ducts. Instructions are also provided for determining the ampacities of the various low and medium-voltage cables in open-type cable tray installations
