Abstract
A brief historical introduction of the development of considerations regarding power quality in networks, as well as their compensation, is presented. The question of different power theories and power components in networks with distortion of voltage and/or current is discussed. Compensation techniques to filter distortion from power networks are briefly reviewed, with the accent on the most recent work. The uses of input converters, dynamic filters for nonactive power and hybrid power filters are covered
