Abstract
The power density of converters is determined by their frequency of operation, the amount of energy processed in each cycle, the total energy stored in the converters´ reactive elements and the power dissipation in the system. A method for evaluation and comparison of converter topologies is based on the above concepts and allows identification of relative benefits or shortcomings. The method also allows estimation of the effect of frequency change on the power density of a converter
