Abstract :
A digital limiter/compressor/expander/noise gate with variable parameters for audio signals is presented. This is a feedforward side-chain system which uses a minimum gain method for selecting the section and generating the control gain and a first-order IIR filter for the attack and release processings. The static and dynamic characteristics are analysed, the function block diagram and the realization techniques are described. The device has been real-time implemented using Motorola DSP56002
