Abstract
A new approach for the analysis of waveguide multi-ports discontinuities containing ferrite is presented in this paper. This approach is a combination of the mode expansion method and finite element method, which is based on the weak form of Helmholtz equation. Mode expansion is used to truncate the computing space of finite element. Y-junction with a partial-height ferrite post is studied as examples. Calculated results (return loss, insertion loss and isolation) are shown and compared to measured data. Consistencies have been observed.
