Abstract
The authors present a digital simulation study of a static phase shifter used to regulate the bus voltage and to provide stability enhancement of an interconnected power system. A nonlinear model of the static phase shifter is presented which in conjunction with a PID (proportional, integral, derivative) controller is used to regulate the bus voltage and damp electromechanical oscillations. Simulation results are presented, indicating the effectiveness of this phase shifter
