Abstract
Optimal modulation controllers for a multiarea AC/DC system designed by changing the weighting matrix Q of the quadratic performance criterion are presented. The controller assigns the modes corresponding to electromechanical oscillations at the desired location on the real axis. Dynamic simulations of the linearized AC/DC system show significant improvement in the dynamic performance of the interconnected system
