Abstract :
In coal fired power plants, it is very important to recognize the calorific value change on used coal for correct control of coal flow because the exact amount of coal is based on calorific value of the coal. Until reliable on-line coal calorie analyzer is available, we need to use compensation methods which find out the calorie of the coal indirectly. If the compensation is not functioning, the boiler becomes unstable when the coal calorie changes. The coal calorie compensation algorithms have been studied with MATLAB simulations and the optimization of the coal calorie compensation algorithm for 520MW actual power plant is introduced here.
