Abstract :
To detect and remove the scratch lines in old films, the basic features of scratch line and the fundamental principles of Canny operator are analyzed. After that, a scratch line detection and restoration algorithm based on Canny operator is put forward. The experimental result shows that the algorithm can precisely detect scratch lines in old films, and acquire information on the length, the start position and the terminal position of it to restore them effectively. Therefore, old films become more appealing with better subjective visual effects after restoration.
