Abstract :
It has been proved that the polyphase matrix of M-band orthogonal wavelets is a paraunitary one. Based on this property, it gave a method of extending the polyphase decomposition of scale filters to a paraunitary matrix. It could get the polyphase decompositions of wavelet filters from the second to the Mth column of the matrix. This provides an approach to construct M-band orthogonal wavelets. At last, it gives some examples to verify the validity of this method to construct M-band compactly supported orthogonal wavelets.
