Editor´s note

Summary form only given, as follows. It is our pleasure to announce that we have 49 papers (including 7 invited ones) to be presented in 2004 IMFEDK for the first intemational conference on semiconductor devices in Kansai. We expected the projected conference would contain a variety of contributions on devices, materials, and circuits in both theories and experiments ranging from fundamentals to feasibilities. Actually submitted papers have been divided into four categories, (1) Silicon processes, emerging devices, circuit design, applications and related technologies, (2) Characterization and testing technologies,(3) Modeling and device simulation, (4) Compound semiconductors, III-V, III-N etc. and related device technologies, further including leading edge-edge ones represented by nanotechnology. It is also noted that a half of submitted papers are from Universities and the other half are from Industries. We wish this would be a good chance to discuss each other from different point of views, which is one of the purposes to set up this conference in Kansai. Finally, we would like to thank all the authors for their contributions and all the reviewers for their diligent efforts for 2004 IMFEDK.
