Abstract :
Compensating for ship´s motion (pitch and roll) is a problem fundamental and important to the shipborne radar with a phased array antenna. A new method and algorithm is derived for electronic tracking beam stabilization. In this method, the real-time compensating algorithm for ship´s motion is combined with the adaptive Kalman filtering in order to implement tracking beam aiming at a target accurately. One of the distinctive aspects of this method is the scalar relative velocity and acceleration of a target are used to correct the position of the tracking beam. The results of computer simulation prove that the prediction errors´ standard deviation can be restricted within ten percent of the beam width with this method and algorithm. So, the method and algorithm is suitable for tracking highly maneuvering targets on the condition of ship´s motion
