Abstract :
This paper proposes a photovoltaic lighting system based on a modified quasi-Z-source power converter topology. In the absence of sunlight the power converter operates as a quasi-Z-source topology for powering the light source from the energy stored battery bank. When there is enough sunlight, the power converter operates in a reverse mode and the photovoltaic energy is stored in a battery bank. Selected simulation and experimental results are included to show the feasibility of the proposed system.
