Abstract :
An accurate and systematic method for deriving the generalized characteristic model for highspeed interconnects is presented. The method utilizes the vector fitting algorithm to extract dominant poles of the characteristic functions. Based on these poles, the Pade approximate functions are constructed by solving least square problems. SPICE-compatible circuit consisting of ideal delay lines and waveshaping networks can easily synthesize the approximate functions. Examples are given to verify the accuracy of the model and illustrate the model synthesis procedure.
