Abstract :
Access to mathematics (and hence to most areas of science and technology) is barred to most visually disabled people. The complex, and often ambiguous notation is difficult to retain and integrate in its spoken form. An interactive computer system, using synthetic speech, non-speech audio and new browsing strategies, aims to promote a more active reading of algebra notation
