Abstract
The double layer satellite system DOLSAT is organized in two independent layers and combines a robust star-net architecture based on Intelsat IDR technology with a versatile CDMA-system in the mesh layer. This structure results from traffic statistics as expected for small regional exchange facilities. The system is well suited to connect a medium number of remote stations with a main station. The network can handle voice and FAX-signals as well as stream type data. Moreover, portable suitcase stations can communicate via the CDMA system of the mesh layer with the main station. Due to its robust structure the system is highly reliable and can be implemented in steps
