Abstract
It is very important to find an effective method for measuring the target range and estimating the target´s power in the environment where the signal/clutter ratio (SCR) is small. In order to solve this problem, some new methods such as ´position by polarized angle´ (PPA) and ´probability estimate polarization (PEP) filter are proposed based on the estimation of the polarization state of the clutter in this paper. The principle of these new kinds of polarization processing and their performance evaluation with experimentally derived data are discussed. The results from computer simulation indicate that the SCR can be improved above 20dB and the correct probability of tracking target can be increased from less than 10% to more than 97%.
