Abstract
In order to extend the range of the RFID system, it is necessary to integrate RFID into a sensor network. In this paper, we first studied a two-tiered RFID sensor network architecture, in which readers collect data from the tags, and then send the data to the processing center. Based on this structure, we analyzed energy consumption factors of the reader. We proposed a simple strategy to balance the energy consumption to all the nodes in RFID network and lengthen the network lifetime. Simulation results show that the scheme performs better than other schemes in the term of the network lifetime.
