Abstract
Measured short term channel characteristics at Ka-band using Olympus and at Ku-band using Anik E2 are given for a particular set of weather conditions. The measured values show that the phase variation at Ka band is much larger as compared to the Ku-band data under similar weather conditions. System performance in terms of probability of error for the on board signal processing experiment is also described. The measured probability of error shows that the Ka-band channel is much worse as compared to the results at Ku-band. Irregular behaviour of bit error rate performance have been observed under various weather conditions
