Abstract :
The paper provides a short introduction to the work being carried out by the CASA project consortium (Concept of Automation and Services for People with Special Needs) and describes some of the issues in developing home automation technology products and services in this sector. The paper describes the ways in which CASA technology can provide practical support for service provision, and the evaluation of this solution in a field site established in Spain. The CASA project is funded by the EC under the current phase of the TIDE initiative (Project Number 1068). It is a 30 month research and development project which will be completed by March 1997
