Abstract :
A review of the methods to determine bathymetry by remote sensing is made, which include aerial two-medium photogrammetry, measuring by airborne laser, determining bathymetry by visible remote sensing, retrieving bathymetry from SAR images of the sea-surface shortwave and retrieving bathymetry from satellite altimetry data, and their applicability in determining nearshore shallow bathymetry (NSB) is discussed either. Then recent research that determining NSB from wave (especially remote sensing wave) is introduced and its difficulties are also discussed.
