Abstract :
A conductive-polymer composite material known by the name of Magnex DC is investigated. It is an ABS polymer with randomly distributed stainless-steel fibers. The material is characterized in terms of insertion loss, return loss, and the equivalent input impedance measured at microwave frequencies, and the results are used to evaluate its shielding effectiveness. Loss results suggest that Magnex DC behaves like a conducting screen, which suggests that it would be very effective for shielding purposes. Its utilization in shielding against electromagnetic energy in a hostile environment is considered.<>
