Abstract :
SESNET is a thin route satellite communications network which has been developed by Alenia Spazio with the target to provide an highly efficient solution to the telecommunications requirements of countries lacking good terrestrial infrastructures. It is the outcome of an European Space Agency sponsored study dedicated to rural communication systems for developing countries. Within such a network, which provides single channel per carrier (SCPC) voice and data communication link between remote sites, the DAMA management processor (DMP) is in charge for resources assignment and release, network connection status supervision and congestion control, remote sites health status monitoring and billing records collection. Together with the Dama operating processor (DOP), the DMP is part of the Dama master station (DMS) of the SESNET network. Since the DMS is vital for the system operativeness, a hot stand by fully redundant scheme has been applied to both the DOP and DMP
