Chipset for PALplus receivers

In parallel to the activities of broadcasters the consumer electronics industry is diligently preparing the introduction of widescreen TV sets with PALplus decoders. In order to have a successful start-up period of the new system, all effort is taken to achieve economic solutions for its implementation. Besides the most noticeable component of a PALplus set, namely the widescreen picture tube, the silicon for the decoder function is the next important part. This paper covers the functional requirements of the PAL colour decoder, helper signal demodulator, motion adaptive colour plus decoder, vertical up-conversion filter and signalling bits decoder
