Abstract :
The additive-increase multiplicative-decrease MAC (AIMD-MAC) protocol is a distributed multi-access algorithm proposed in our earlier work and it is controlled by three parameters: the update cycle, the additive increase term and the multiplicative decrease factor. It was designed to exploit the multi-packet reception (MPR) capability in wireless networks. We describe the AIMD-MAC protocol and study how the three parameters impact the performance of AIMD-MAC. We demonstrate that the AIMD-MAC with a suitable set of parameters can be adequately used in a dynamic wireless communication environment.
