Abstract
It is noted that managing large projects that entail legal-political difficulties is a formidable task. Success is often dependent on the ability of the project manager to successfully cope with a myriad of complex factors that endanger the successful go-ahead, implementation, and completion of the project effort. To assist project managers in these setting, the author identifies potentially useful strategies for managing these types of projects. The author directed a study, believed to be the largest and most comprehensive investigation, on the subject of project management effectiveness. The author presents the significant variables and factors contributing to project success and failure for the project study. Among other findings, it is concluded that in order to minimize the chances of perceived failure, project managers are well advised to place heavy emphasis on establishing good, effective patterns of coordination and human relations with all the principal stakeholders of a project
