Abstract
In this paper, a transverse-flux linear switched reluctance motor (TFLSRM) based traction system for semi-magnetic suspending urban rail transit vehicle, is proposed. An analysis over the TFLSRM structure and operation principle is presented. The mathematical model of the thrust and normal forces is defined, and determined to be suitable for equal or unequal pole width of stator and rotor. Based on the known direct torque control principles for switched reluctance motors, a control method is proposed to simultaneously control the TFLSRM traction and normal forces. The effectiveness of the developed control method is verified by means of simulations.
