Abstract :
A new opto-electronic fibre-based system architecture to generate and distribute microwave subcarriers is proposed. The system has the advantage of only using passive optical filters and low-bandwidth electronics. The system distribution power budget is estimated for a subcarrier at 5 GHz. Also, some considerations about the requirements for the design of the subcarrier optical filters and the noise performance of the microwave signals generated by a Fabry-Perot gain-switched semiconductor laser are presented
