There has been much discussion and literature about connector care, but little about what goes on behind the connector backplane, at the interface that you really wanted to connect to. The intention of this paper is to shed some light on how RF and microwave connectors work, and describe some of the various ingenious techniques used by connector and instrument manufacturers to interface with cables and instruments
