Title :
Manufacturing strategies: implementing `sequencing´
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The author examines the evolution and revolution around the implementation of sequencing (a type of just-in-time manufacturing) in a large, high-technology, customer-ordered optioned product, telecommunications systems manufacturing plant. Implementations of this type require changes in process, procedures, and mainly in mindset. The change resulted in a more focused team of people working toward better-defined goals. Manufacturing intervals were reduced by 75% once sequencing was fully implemented in a pilot focused factory. There were similar reductions in work in progress, inventories, floor space requirements, and material rework
