Abstract :
Accurate measurement depends on many aspects of the measurement system being correct and the correct use of leads and connectors are fundamental in achieving this objective. The equipment now used in much of industry is modern and of a very high standard, but how it is connected to the unknown device to make measurements has often been a major concern-the standard of leads and connectors in use has been far from ideal. It is pleasing to note that many manufacturers are aware of this situation and have produced guidance publications on the correct use of leads and connectors for their equipment: this needs to be encouraged and strengthened to ensure that the manufacturer´s specification is achievable and the required measurement uncertainty is not, unwittingly, degraded
