Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. The A delta T methodology, a time-based strategy developed by the Digital Equipment Corporation in 1987. The name is derived from A=Actual, T=Theoretical, and delta=the difference between Actual and Theoretical. The five-step process consists of flow-charting the actual process, defining the actual time, defining the theoretical steps and time, analyzing and eliminating the deltas, and then challenging the theoretical. The cycle time performance ratio (CTPR) was also developed for a quantitative measurement of progress expressed in terms of time. Implementation results within Digital manufacturing were examined. The successful implementation within manufacturing has led to using the methodology to reduce waste and eliminate time from administrative processes. Digital has expanded the use of the methodology with both their suppliers and customers
