Abstract
The author suggests a possibility of representing the knowledge base of engineering and technology management (ETM) by applying the concept of a knowledge system. This approach allows for identification of knowledge levels in various elements of the ETM discipline. Interconnections among those elements are discussed and shown as a knowledge map of ETM. The proposed representation may be used as a framework for designing educational programs and selecting research strategies. Analogies to historical development of other disciplines are also presented
