Abstract :
This paper deals with the problem of a correct interpretation of the parametric maps obtained with `blue to green´ ratio over coastal waters. The study is carried out with a model of ocean colour, which is briefly described. Some changes, with respect to the original model, are made and a pigment equivalent of yellow substance is introduced. A regression analysis between marine parameter concentrations and model-derived reflectances shows that `blue to green´ ratio is much more correlated to a linear combination of pigment and yellow substance concentrations, than to the pigment concentration itself. This result suggests a new interpretation of the maps
