Abstract :
A new crossed slot antenna and feed system for high polarization isolation over wide bandwidth is presented. The feed comprises simple, symmetric microstrip lines and suppresses the mutual coupling between the slots allowing high polarization purity. Simulations indicate a gain of around 8.5 dBi, which is expected, with excellent bandwidth (34% for the -10 dB impedance-match bandwidth) and feed isolation (better than -60 dB across the band). Known dual-polarized elemental antennas tend to be patches, excited with slots, and this new design has a simpler structure because it uses the wideband slot as the radiator removing the need for the patch and allowing a wider bandwidth.
