Abstract :
A frequency agile dominant mode (TM11) microstrip circular patch antenna by implementing varactor diode (Skyworks: SMV 1234) has been investigated. Frequency agility from 1.95 GHz to 1.55 GHz has been achieved with acceptable radiation performance by varying varactor diode capacitance from 1.32 pF to 9.36 pF. Effect of packaging of the diode compared to the ideal diode is shown. Additional results will be presented during the symposium.
