Abstract
An electrically-small eighth-mode substrate integrated waveguide (EMSIW) antenna is presented for a dual-band operation. A low frequency of 1.575 GHz is constant for global positioning system (GPS) reception, while a high frequency of 2.4 GHz is electronically tuned for WLAN applications. The overall antenna size is miniaturized by introducing the EMSIW and the complementary split ring resonator (CSRR). The proposed antenna´s performances are numerically and experimentally demonstrated from S-parameters and radiation patterns.
