Abstract
A microcontroller based measurement system for automated testing of ultrasonic transducers is presented in this work. The operation of this system is based on the fast measurement of frequency and amplitude, performed by the proposed configuration within a single period of the received signal. The combination of this information with the time of arrival of each pulse is then used to derive practically all important characteristics of ultrasonic transducers. Due to its low cost and small size, the system can be used either for characterization and classification of transducers, or as a self-testing and automated calibration section within any high performance ultrasonic system
