Abstract
BBN Systems and Technologies (BBN) has developed a family of advanced acoustic processors (AAP) to support the company´s contract research and development in shallow water sonar. The AAP family is built with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and uses BBN´s own distributed data flow software environment. This paper presents an overview of the AAP hardware and software architectures. Several illustrative examples of applications of the AAP to both scientific and operational problems are also presented
