  • Abstract
Intelligent maintenance system (IMS) is a potential selection for modern construction machinery. Kansei engineering (K-E) is a support for systematically exploring people\´s "feelings" about a product or service and translating the feelings into design parameters. Based on the theory of collaborative Kansei engineering, a new intelligent maintenance system has been developed. Different from conventional Kansei engineering system, collaborative Kansei engineering system aims to deal with the impact of different operators\´ emotions on the same type construction machinery. The system has an excellent merit of integrating advanced collaborative Kansei characteristics of operator such as affections, feelings, emotions, etc, to construction machinery. In contrast to general intelligent maintenance system, this new IMS is more comprehensive, creative and humanized. Modern construction machinery with the IMS is able to add more recognition, understanding, and cooperative communications between operator and machinery. More importantly, the IMS based on collaborative Kansei engineering is able to fully reflect impacts of the different operators\´ emotions on the development and implementation of IMS for construction machinery. Collaborative K-E will enhance the development of more advanced IMS.
