Abstract :
An electroacoustic method is proposed to evaluate and optimize the efficiency of marine sparker sources. It is based on two different approaches. The first one concerns the study of the bubble growth and collapse associated with production of an intense discharge between electrodes and measurements of the delay time between the primary and the bubble collapse pulse in the laboratory tank. The second approach employs linear network theory to evaluate, with good approximation, the input impedance of the sparker and to model the transducer performance as a function of this parameter
