Abstract :
Based on stable incompressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and turbulence model, three dimension distribution on smoke of kitchen in an apartment unit is numerically simulated. A source term added in the concentration diffusion equation represents smoke produce rate. The contaminant concentration and velocity problems are resolved by control volume method in interlacing grid with SIMPLE algorithm. The simulated results prove that different smoke exhaust method and exhaust air volume create great influence on smoke concentration and air distribution. Upper exhaust can obtain a better effect than side exhaust with the same air volume. And when the exhaust air volume adds to some degree, the exhaust system no longer removes the smoke effectively. The results might be beneficial to predicting the cookie smoke distribution and transmitting law, therefore protecting the health and safety of the occupants in an apartment unit.
