Abstract :
Summary form only given. An attempt has been made to develop an improved conceptualization of the meaning and scope of technology and its relation to the economic process. Technology is usually conceptualized primarily as material in nature and substance. By comparison, the author´s conception of technology is one of a gestalt. This entails, as integral parts, both the social and the material parts. It is the author´s position that a new structure of social organization in the form of technological management at the macro-level, as social technology, will serve as a necessary condition to ameliorate the anomalies currently characteristic of the American economy
