Abstract
The authors discuss a large-scale application of a point rating plan for job evaluation in Turkish industry. They first describe the methodology of the application and the procedure used. The point rating method has been used in evaluating jobs and a correlation analysis among the job factors has been done. This correlation analysis indicates, in the case considered, that there exists a high positive linear dependence between some pairs of variables (in this case, the point values for each of the 367 job titles for the Turkish Employers Association of Metal Industries application). It is also shown that this dependence may result in a bias in the job evaluation and it is therefore possible to eliminate some of these factors from the point rating plan altogether to give way to a more consistent evaluation scheme
