  • Abstract
A new method for the calculation of transient field radiated through aperture antennas is described. The finite-difference time-domain method is applied for the near field prediction in the dose surrounding of the antenna and a proper parametrization of the aperture field by space-and time-variant basis functions permits to obtain closed-form far field formulas which are separable with regard to space and time. The feasibility of the method is discussed by application to the time and frequency domain analysis of a broadband circular ridged horn antenna in both standalone and array configurations.
