Abstract
Equivalent circuit modelling of electrochemical systems using AC impedance analysis is a widely accepted technique. However, there are systems for which the method is not well suited, and the current interrupt technique can sometimes be used as an alternative method of establishing a circuit model. The current interrupt technique makes use of the capacitance inherent to an electrochemical interface. In its most well-known form it is used as a means of full IR correction in half cell experiments. However the examples discussed in this paper take the method further, and relate to full electrochemical systems rather than half-cell tests. The method could also be described as a type of chronopotentiometry
