Abstract
We examine the corrosion technology, its capabilities, and the suitability and state of development of the technology for condition monitoring applications. In particular, the need to provide full integration with the control and instrumentation, and information technology systems, and the limits to achieving this technology are examined. An example installation is described to illustrate the architecture and functionality of modern corrosion surveillance systems as related to corrosion prevention in power station chimney stacks
