Abstract
A multi-level control system is presented which consists of a fuzzy logic controller in the lowest level supervised by a higher level decision-maker which employs fuzzy logic theory to represent the human expertise used in supervising the plant which includes both the controller and the process. The supervisory level tasks consist of tuning the fuzzy logic controller, generating and modifying the control rules, evaluating the controller performance, fault detection and diagnosis, together with an alarm and monitoring system. All of these features are co-ordinated by the supervisory level manager. The system has a generic architecture so that it can be implemented on different types of systems such as industrial and medical applications
