Abstract :
This paper presents a method to account for the spherical spreading effects present when attempting to apply the Time-Domain Reflectometry (TDR) wall estimation technique to the case of a two wall scenario. The parameters of the front wall can be easily estimated using the standard TDR technique however, the parameters associated with the interior wall cannot be estimated directly using TDR. Thus, a compensation factor is presented which allows the TDR technique to be applied to the case of two unknown walls separated by a hallway using a hybrid estimation technique. Numerically simulated results are presented which demonstrate the usefulness of this compensation factor to the application of TDR to this two-wall scenario.
