Abstract
In our paper, a PN code acquisition scheme using a smart antenna is proposed. The basic structure is the combination of an adaptive beamformer and a conventional PN correlation searcher. The weight vector of the smart antenna is updated with a least mean square (LMS) algorithm. All array element outputs are employed in the PN correlation searcher. Performance of the proposed scheme is theoretically analyzed and also simulated in terms of detection probability Pd and average acquisition time Tacq under additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and Rayleigh mobile fading environment. Results show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve PN code acquisition performance
